My Story
I had always known in my heart that my ideal career was one that would allow me the freedom to be creative while helping others. After a car accident that required surgery, I completed physical therapy for several months. Despite the skill and effort of my physical therapist I was not satisfied with my level of healing. I was still in pain and unable to keep up with my previous level of activity. Per recommendation of my chiropractor I joined a gym. Being that I am a do it yourself kind of girl I began educating myself on the proper exercises necessary to reduce my pain and limitations. After a long summer of breaking down scar tissue, minimizing muscle imbalances and the right combo of ice, heat and rest I was back in action. During this time I had been observing the personal trainers in the gym. Time after time I witnessed new clients transform from a fearful face with hardly enough courage to walk through the door to a confident and happy gym regular. The trainers were full of energy and seemed to really enjoy motivating and inspiring their clients. At this moment I realized, "You don’t pick your career…It picks you"!
In late 2005 I obtained my first personal training certificate through the gym. In early 2006 I became NASM certified as it was deemed to be the best in the industry. Shortly thereafter it became clear that the certification is just a baseline. I have always had a curious mind and was unsure if personal training would be enough for me so I explored my options.
At the recommendation of my parents, I decided once again to explore the medical field that I originally intended to enter. My 3 1/2 year hiatus from full time training was spent with holistic medical doctors, chiropractors and physical therapists and has shaped the personal trainer I am today. I do not regret a minute of this priceless hands on experience. However, no matter where my curiosity has taken me over the years it always leads me right back to personal training. This profession provides me the freedom to give 100% care to my clients. I love customizing exercise, nutrition and coaching programs to bring health and fitness goals to life.
